Murchison Falls National Park is the largest national park in Uganda, offering an unrivalled safari experience including classic ‘big game’ viewing opportunities, chimpanzee tracking, breathtaking African scenery, the awesome river Nile, and the eponymous falls.
Red Chilli is superbly located to explore Murchison. We are at Paraa on the southern bank of the River Nile in the heart of the park. Our camp is just 500 metres from the Paraa ferry, where all vehicles cross the Nile for game drives around the Nile Delta, and from where boats can be hired for game viewing and sport fishing on the Nile – either up to the base of the Falls, or down to the Nile delta at Lake Albert.
We have a fully stocked bar and restaurant below a large open thatched roof with spectacular views towards the Nile. The bar serves drinks from 6.15am until midnight and meals are available at the following times: Breakfast 7.20am – 10.30am, Lunch 11.30am – 3pm, Dinner 6.30pm – 9pm. Breakfast and lunch are Á la carte, whereas at dinner we offer a choice of 3 different dishes daily: one red meat, one white meat/fish and one vegetarian option. We cater for other dietary requirements on request – please call/email to discuss. We also supply packed breakfasts (please order before 8pm the previous day) and lunches. Tea and coffee are available so long as the bar is open!
A bonfire is lit most evenings (weather permitting!) for the full ‘safari’ experience. Our modern toilets and showers have provision for disabled visitors and all our en-suite bandas are fitted with solar hot water systems, although the heat in Murchison means this isn’t always necessary!
For those on a budget, or without their own transport, we run some very popular tours to Murchison, departing from Kampala several times a week. We can also cater for those wanting exclusive tours. Please enquire for further information.
Great Value Accommodation
We offer the only low to mid budget accommodation in the park, in furnished safari tents and bandas (small individual houses) with public or private bathrooms, as well as the only camping facilities with modern showers, toilets, cooking area and security lighting.
Please see our accommodation rates page for updated accommodation rates for Murchison Falls.
Remember Murchison is a malarial area, so please take appropriate malaria prophylaxis! Please also be aware that the camp is situated in the middle of the National Park and as such frequently welcomes wild animals roaming through. Remember they are not tame and give warthogs and hippos (and whatever other animals you may be fortunate enough to spot!) a wide berth. No flash photography please! We also advise all visitors from storing any food or drinks in their tents as otherwise the warthogs will surely raid them! You are welcome to handover any food stuffs at the bar for safe keeping.
We look forward to welcoming you and helping you to have the best safari experience!
